The BEST Vanilla Sugar Cookie Recipe

Everyone loves cookies, right? I’m seriously a cookie fanatic! I love them all, chocolate chip, chocolate chocolate, snickerdoodles, peanut butter, macarons, macaroons, shortbread, danish butter cookies, etc.. But what about sugar cookies? It’s always confused me that there are so many variations of sugar cookies! There are rolled out and cut and frosted sugar cookies (classic holiday), there are flattened with a cup and frosted sugar cookies (swig or lofthouse), and there are these: classic, sweet, soft, with an outside crunch of deliciousness sugar cookies.

These are seriously my new go to treats. SO quick and easy, fulfilling all that I’m looking for when I’m craving something sweet. Once I finalized which recipe I liked best (there were like 4 variations until I was happy) I tried rolling them in sugar and then rolling them in VANILLA SUGAR before squishing and baking. NO DOUBT they are good cookies rolled in regular sugar, even in sugar crystals, but OH MY WORD they are DIVINE in the vanilla sugar (and so pretty with the flecks of vanilla beans)

The BEST vanilla Sugar Cookie Recipe

These sugar cookies are rolled in vanilla sugar before being baked and they taste

Ingredients

  • 1/2 C butter
  • 1/2 C shortening
  • 1 C granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 1/4 C all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2/3 C vanilla sugar
US Customary - Metric

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350
  • cream butter, shortening and sugar until light and fluffy
  • add egg and vanilla, mix well
  • combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt - add to the butter mixture
  • shape into 1 inch balls, roll in the vanilla sugar, flatten with glass
  • Bake for 11-13 mins

    My new favorite sugar cookie recipe! Bless you again, Ash! It’s the perfect amount and by far the simplest sugar cookie recipe I’ve ever tried, plus you weren’t lying! Soft on the inside with a light crispy outside! Boo yah!
