My Video Cameras
I use a Sony a7iii for my front full frame camera Sony Alpha a7R III Mirrorless Digital Camera (Body Only)
and two Sony a6400 for my overhead and side shots (amazing continual autofocus) Sony Alpha a6400 Mirrorless Digital Camera (Body Only, Black)
front shot – Sony Zeiss FE 55mm f/1.8 – Sony Sonnar T* FE 55mm f/1.8 ZA Lens
side shots – Sony Zeiss FE 24-70mm f/4 lens Sony Vario-Tessar T* FE 24-70mm f/4 ZA OSS Lens
overhead shots – Sony Zeiss E 16-70mm f/4 lens Sony Vario-Tessar T* E 16-70mm f/4 ZA OSS Lens
a more affordable point and shoot option is the Sony ZV-1. I doesn’t do interchangeable lens so it’s a little limited but it’s a great place to start that’s better than a phone. Sony ZV-1
continual power cord Micro USB charger
My Travel Gear
I use a mix of 3 different cameras depending on what I’m trying to get shots of
Playing in water, on the beach or anything super active – I use a GoPro GoPro HERO8
For when I don’t want to carry a lot of stuff but get some good movement shots I use the DJI pocket gimbal. It’s super small and the gimbal is great for smooth shots. DJI pocket 2 Gimbal
And when I got good pictures and better quality video I bring the sony mirrorless point and shoot. Sony ZV-1
Travel Microphone – I use this shotgun mount compact Rode microphone Rode VideoMicro Ultracompact Camera-Mount Shotgun Microphone
For a quick lighting solution I use this Spiffy Gear Lumiee bicolor light bracelet
And to hold it all I love my LowePro backpack. I have two, one for smaller trips and one for when I bring more gear! Here is a great small one Lowepro flipside 200

Audio options
IMO camera audio is terrible so I recommend using a separate recorder
record on your phone –
I started with – Rode mic with app – record on your phone Rode smartLav+ Lavalier Condenser Microphone for Smartphones
separate recorder
I wish I’d started with – Zoom h1 recorder – for one person Zoom H1n 2-Input / 2-Track Portable Handy Recorder with Onboard X/Y Microphone (Gray)
with a lav mic attached Senal CL6 Miniature 4mm Omni Lavalier Mic with 3.5mm Connector for Sennheiser ew or AWS-2000 Transmitters
BETTER recorder – and can have multiple mic’s Zoom H4n Pro 4-Input / 4-Track Portable Handy Recorder with Onboard X/Y Mic Capsule
With multiple XLR lav mics Senal AWS-2000 Camera-Mount Wireless Omni Lavalier Microphone System Kit (A: 522 to 554 MHz)
or I now use two XLR boom mics NTG2 Complete Shotgun Microphone HDSLR Kit
Desktop mic for voice overs Blue Yeti USB Microphone (Silver)
Multi Camera Recording and Live streaming equipment
Best priced option
Sling Studio Hub Hub with CameraLink Kit
Sling Studio Transmitter (one for each camera) SlingStudio CameraLink
You’ll need cords to connect the cameras to the transmitter so it’s different depending on your camera as well as something for audio and lighting – see above
micro to micro cord (what I use with my sony’s) Micro to Micro USB cord
audio cord to plug recorder into sling studio 3.5 mm audio cord
