These thread crochet converse booties are easy to make and seriously so cute! A fun to make pattern for your sweet babies to wear.
These crochet shoes walk the line between “Oh my holy cuteness” and “why in the world would anyone make those”. I’m leaning towards the cute side myself…
But if you don’t agree, I get it. Crochet “clothing” is always a bit iffy. But personally I totally adore them and am even thinking of getting a new thread color to make him another pair!!
My problem??? I give birth to Hobbits. Their feet don’t even fit onto their birth certificate!!!
So the first time I tried to make these based on other peoples many patterns they were all too small, MAYBE 2/3rd up his foot. So I started over creating my own pattern as I went.
If you like yarn more than thread crochet I saw this converse high top pattern on Ravelry! Since I didn’t try this one I can’t tell you if it would fit my little boy or not, but looking at the pictures I’d have to make a lot of the same changes there as well.

Oh my gosh…I love these so much! So adorable! So creative, I need a baby just so I can have these too.
Ashlee
Thanks so much! I loved them, but once I finished was worried everyone else would think I was becoming to grandma-y or out of touch! So I’m glad (so far) people like them!

Oh MY HOLY cuteness! I want some for my guy! I wish I knew how to crochet! Your son looks so big and old already!!!!!!!
Ashlee
HA! Thanks Michelle! I’m happy to teach you, I really enjoy crocheting!
Jess
These.are.so.cute. I find this to be a perfectly acceptable form of crocheted clothing. Plus, they are GREAT for those chunky little baby feet that don’t quite fit in regular shoes. 🙂
Ashlee
thanks so much! Baby boy actually has long enough feet to wear size 3 shoes, but not the bulk or width, so homemade shoes are the way to go!
Shiloh
Definitely super cute. My dad is a huge converse fan, so I should make these for his first grandson. I LOVE them.
Ashlee
def. I get compliments everywhere. perfect shoes for the converse loving grandchild!
Sue

Ashlee
thank you so much! I’m having a hard time linking up anywhere these days, but I’ll add your party to my list for when I get back into it more (when the baby starts sleeping more.)
Trisha
These are absolutely adorable! Saw them on Friday Flair and had to check them out. 🙂
Ashlee
Thanks so much! I’m so glad they’ve been a hit! I was worried me thinking they were cute might be because I’m not sleeping much, but glad everyone else seems to like them too!
Mom Photographer
WOW! They are amazing and so super cute! I’ll definitely try to make them for my newborn… thanks!
Ashlee
Let me know how it goes. And if your baby doesn’t have super long and narrow feet us the original pattern. I’d hate for them to be to big for anyone! I often wonder if I’m the only one who gives birth to hobbits!
Sandie
Can I just say, WOW? Those are too stinkin’ adorable!!!!
Ashlee
Thanks so much! I’ve enjoyed how cute he looks wearing them
maks
These are so cute! I’m still a crochet beginner, but I will definitely try these once I have a little more time ;-). Thanks for sharing!
Ashlee
working with thread is just like yarn, only smaller, so once you get the yarn down you can try the thread. Easy peasy!
Cindi
the thread you use is it like embroidery thread.
Ashlee
nope, I use floss for embroidery thread, this is thicker and stronger crochet thread, you can’t pull it apart into other strands like you can with embroidery thread.
Emi
Wow, they are absolutely gorgeous!!! I wish I could crochet… And having a baby and complete a crochet project? You’re one super-woman!!
Ashlee
HA! I’m up late at night with him, so crocheting, knitting and cross stitching are easy to do. Nothing else can get done at midnight, even typing is hard with him on my lap, but working on these hands on projects keep me sane at 2 am
Kim @ Cheap Chic Home
These are some of the cutest bootie socks I’ve ever seen! How smart of you to be able to rework them. Your son is darling, too, of course!
Ashlee
Thanks! I’m used to re writing patterns. Not always, but often enough that I felt comfortable doing these shoes. My first rewrite didn’t go this well that’s for sure!
Michelle
Why make them? To show the world that you can — and because they’re so gosh darn cute! It’s the same reason I knit a pineapple hat to put on my newborn’s head.
Ashlee
pretty much everythink looks cute on an adorable baby, right? They can get away with wearing crochet, knit and other crafty items us adults can’t get away with!
Jenn
If I knew how to crochet, I would totally make these! Cutest little things ever. I am going to forward this to my aunt and beg her to make me a pair! I stumbled this!
Ashlee
Thanks! I hope she has good luck with them (if your able to persuade her- bribe with cake maybe?)
amy
oh, no WAY! Those are too adorable!! Would you pleeease share here?

seriously?! you’re killing me… these are SUPER cute! I’m just learning the basics of crocheting, and i’m a LONG way from anything as tedious as this.. but MAN! super duper inspiring to get my butt & gear & learn already! 🙂 thanks for sharing.. found you via today’s creative.
Ashlee
I’m glad you think they are cute! Really working with thread is just like yarn, just much smaller. Not too tedious at all once you get used to it, and now I actually prefer it! But there are yarn versions of this shoe and yarn is for sure faster to work with for projects like these! Good luck, I love crocheting!
The Rebel Crafter
These are so adorable, great gift!

Thanks. I hadn’t thought of the gift side of things, but will have to use some pink glitter thread to crochet a pair next time a friend has a baby girl!
Tonia
Those are super cute!! I need to make some. Thanks for sharing 🙂
Ashlee
thanks! The first one took awhile, with rewriting the pattern, but the second was a breeze to whip out! Let me know how it goes!
