Easy to make red velvet cupcakes are quite the Valentine’s Day treat. These red cupcakes are perfect for any Valentine’s couple.

How I created this Red Velvet Cupcake Recipe

A simple and basic red velvet cupcake. Light and fluffy with an amazing texture. The Cream cheese frosting is decadent, rich, creamy and oh so delicious.

Honestly I’m not the biggest fan of red velvet as a flavor, I don’t think it has much of a flavor to speak of. It’s not vanilla, it’s not chocolate, it’s just ehh.

But it’s the most popular cupcake flavor at cupcake stores! I personally believe it’s because everyone loves cream cheese frosting! And red is just perfect for these Valentine cupcakes.

Just take me to the Valentines Day Cupcakes already!

If you’d rather skip my tips and tricks for cream cheese frosting and cupcakes, along with links to other sweet recipes and get straight to these delicious Valentines cupcakes – simply scroll to the bottom of the page where you can find the printable recipe card.

Tips to Make the Perfect Red Velvet Cupcake

  • After filling the piping bag twist the bag and pinch between your thumb and palm to hold the twist. This way when you squeeze the frosting won’t go out the back end.
  • Hold the tip perpendicular to the cupcake and starting on the outside squeeze while you move the bag in a circle. Stop squeezing amd continuing the circle so the point continues the shape.
  • I like using a #20 cookie scoop to make sure all my cupcakes are the same size.

To make this Red Velvet Bloody Cupcake you’ll need

  • Stand mixer – I of course use and love my universal bosch mixer
  • Super Red gel food color – you use less and get a better flavor than liquid dye
  • Cupcake tin
  • Cupcake wrappers
  • Large #20 cookie scoop – to evenly distribute the batter
  • Open or closed star piping tip – I like Ateco #849 for cupcakes
  • Heart sprinkles
