I realized the other day (when I made the flipagram of the 50+ cakes I made last year) that I hadn’t shared this adorable smash cake session from last year! I love this whole session. The pinks and oranges go so well together, and the orchard is so pretty!
I used a vertical ruffle in a medium petal tip for this cake. It’s a 5 inch, white cake, super easy once you get the hang of ruffles. I wasn’t sure how well the orange would really look, it can be such a BRIGHT color. But I love how it turned out.
My favorite parts of these sessions is when my sister (chelsea peterson photography) shares the cake actually getting smashed. It’s so fun seeing the unique responses each child has to their first taste of cake!
and of course the aftermath is ALWAYS fun too! Cleaning up? a pain, but it’s such a fun session to capture, I wish I had done one with each of my kids! Of course we made up for it with the FAMILY smash cake session we did for our cards this year!
If you want to learn how I frost all these buttercream cakes I’m now teaching two online classes with more on the way! Anything you really want to learn?
