I love pumpkin and I love hot chocolate. So when my mom came home from an activity and said they had a creamy warm pumpkin drink I HAD to try it! It’s so so SOOOO good, creamy and warm and just full of deliciousness. AND it’s nice to have a change from my daily hot Chocolate (oh who am I kidding, I’ll have a mug of this AND a mug of hot chocolate – breakfast and lunch)
It’s good warm by itself, but I like to add a small dollop of fresh whipped cream on top, it’s simply prettier I think. It is great to just make yourself on a cold fall day, or a really fun addition to any holiday party!
I can’t wait to serve it to my kids tonight during our family Halloween fun! And will be so much fun to make after the kids and dads come in after playing football Thanksgiving weekend!
You can swap out all the spices for a basic “pumpkin pie spice” if you want. But like the control over the individual flavors myself, so I usually make my own. Like I actually us a bit less ginger in mine, but I have a “thing” about ginger (don’t ask). So if you like one of these spices more than another you can change it up a bit.
I actually premixed all the spices and then added a little at a time until I was happy with the pumpkin/spice ratio. Feel free to use a little less or little MORE!
- 4 C heavy whipping cream
- 2 C whole milk
- 3/4 C granulated sugar
- 15 oz Pure Pumpkin
- 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp ground ginger
- 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/16 allspice
- 1/16 ground cloves
- 1 tsp vanilla
- Combine cream, milk and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Stir until sugar is dissolved.
- Whisk in Pumpkin until well blended, add the spices and vanilla.
- Simmer for 10-15 mins, until mixture is warm.
- Serve with fresh whipped cream.
So what do you think? weird or amazing. I was a bit skeptical at first but after a few changes it is SERIOUSLY amazing and my baby boy loves it too! My husband loved it (until he read my recipe and realized how much cream was it in, health freak)
