Last time I made this tart my husband said “how is it that you won’t eat apple pie and yet you make such a delicious one?”. Â It’s true, I am not a fan of apple pie, tart, etc… BUT this one is always a huge hit. Â I bake and cook each component separately, the cumble, the crust and the filling, then bring them all together in one dessert. Â It keeps the crust more crisp that way, which I’m a huge fan of.
They are many different crust options out there, flaky pie crust, crumb crust, Pâte Brisée (for savory foods like this quiche), Pà te Sucrée (sweet) and what I used for this one a Pâte Sablée (Sandy).  You CAN use the Pà te Sucrée if you want, but I love this crumbly texture for this dessert.  It pairs nicely with the crumble topping!
