Pink ruffle cake – pinterest challenge

This is one I actually made 1 1/2 years ago, but from an online picture that I pinned on my home inspiration board and have since pinned on pinterest. I figured that it counted because it was inspired by online inspiration. It’s actually a Martha Stewart cake.

I actually made it for my 2 nieces February birthday’s as well as Valentines day (their birthday’s are the 13th and 11th). Most of the family was in town for the big celebration, my niece turned 8 which is a big deal for us as that’s the age we baptize our children. So it was a fun family party, and fun to make a new cake I hadn’t tried before.

Here is the inspirational picture I pinned from the https://www.marthastewart.com/357676/ruffle-tower-cake!

It turned out well, but because I decided to go with taste and used Cream Cheese frosting it wasn’t quite as… stiff as it could have been. It was a bit soft and easily droopy. But it tasted AMAZING! My signature chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting? Incredible. The funny thing is most of us left town a day later, so my poor mom and dad were left with this HUGE tall cake.

If you want to learn how I frost all these buttercream cakes I’m now teaching two online classes with more on the way! Anything you really want to learn?

It’s a fun cake to make, pretty easy, and while a tad time consuming not the MOST time consuming I’ve done! I’ll have to do another version of it some time!

Very cute. I used to work at a bakery and we did a similar style on the dress of the Barbie doll when we did doll cakes. I might have to keep this in mind for my daughter’s future birthday party (next year) or a shower or something fun. Or just to get out my decorating supplies and use them!

I can see it looking pretty on a barbie skirt as well! I’ve seen many variations since it came out, I also really like the rainbow ones! Lovely!
