I have loved the chalkboard tread that has been growing the past few years. So creating these Christmas cards was just perfect! Thanks to Chelsea Peterson Photography for supplying the pictures for the collage
I have been thrilled with how much everyone has loved these Christmas cards! I’ve even gotten a few in the mail, which totally tickles me. I’d love to create another group of invitations this year, any requests?

Hello. I love your back grounds they are so cute. I don’t know if I read your post on facebook correctly but did you make these backgrounds from Picasa? Because that is what I use for my pictures and I am not able to use the png but I can use the jpeg one. But would love to know how I can make my own. Will you help me? Thanks again

I made all my cards in photoshop, I don’t use online editing, they tend to save at too low of a quality for printing. what are you trying to make yourself, a whole card? or just add your picture to one of mine? The reason png’s work better is because they already have the space for the photo cut out, a transparent section. with the jpg you’ll have to layer the card OVER a picture and then CUT OUT the white section. leaving a hole to see the picture through. does that help?

Thanks for the answer back. I was trying to make a picture I took into a postcard but the family I took it of she found a groupon for Christmas cards. I don’t do alot of photo editing mainly turning them into black and white and adding the border around the picture. But I do some digitial scrapbooking. Thanks again.
Ashlee
your welcome.

Hey Ashlee, these are beautiful! The hubs and I are working on adding our photos now. We have been struggling with making the image size for the photos right. Within Photoshop, how do you paste it within the square? Thanks so much!
Ashlee
did you download the PNG or the JPG. with the JPG you’ll have to “cut out” the white portion. What I’d do is save the PNG then layer the PNG OVER your pictures, then you can adjust the picture underneath the already cut out section for your picture. use the “transform” to be able to easily adjust (ctrl-T for PC’s- don’t forget to lock the ratios before adjusting the size) does that help? If you still have issues let me know!

How do I use these to create our cards?
Ashlee
when you like the FB page you’ll be able to access the “free chalkboard christmas cards” tab, the image will show the 6 on my page, and the 6 on my sisters page. Scroll down to the blue links, click to open the image. then right click and then “save image as” to place on your computer hard drive. both PNG (easiest to use cause the holes are already there for your pictures) and jpg are there for the covers (jpg only for the backs since they don’t need images added to them). Use some kind of photo editing software to add your image underneath the png (or on top of the jpg, but like I said, harder to get it right.). I like to use photoshop. Beware of online editing, like picmonkey, cause they don’t save in a high enough dpi (dots per inch) to print well. I only print at 300dpi and higher.

Thank you so much for these! They are great!
Ashlee
your so welcome!

Is there away to adjust the size in photoshop once they are finished? I would like to order them through costco but their card size is 6×7.5.
Ashlee
switch the size under the “image” tab. Switch it to 6 inches tall (or wide) in place of the 5 inches. Then the length will be too long and you’ll have to crop a bit from the ends to get the measurement right. OR just upload to costco and widen it a bit in their program.

Hi Ashley,
I found your site and beautiful cards through Pinterest. I’ am so excited this is exactly what I was looking for to have for my card this Christmas! I read above how you mentioned you used uprinting, thanks for the tip, did you choose a matte or glossy finish and are you only able to print 250 +? I apologize for all the questions, and appreciate any help or insight you can provide.
Thanks again!
Ashlee
I ordered matte, personal preference, and I ordered 500 (used 350), I have a LOT of family that I send cards to! I’m not sure where you could print for less. But they have a great price even if you don’t end up using them all like I didn’t.
Cindy
These are lovely! Thank you so much for sharing them. 🙂
Ashlee
you are so welcome! I’m so glad you enjoy them!
Kara
