I remember the first time I saw someone make tassels for a party, I was like… Gorgeous, but way too time consuming  But then I walked down the tissue aisle and saw all the pretty colors and just HAD to make my own for this Princess Party!  I still wish I’d been able to find some gold tissue paper to mix in with these fun colors, but I ended up using gold washi tape instead!

instructions on how to make easy tissue paper tassels for birthday parties

I actually made 5 strands of these tassels and put them on other tables around the park.  Now one is attached to my Princesses bunk bed!  It went WAY faster than I thought and was actually really easy!  Tomorrow I’ll be sharing the the Balloon Tassel tutorial as well, it’s even FASTER! and I LOVE how full it is.

cutting strips into your tissue paper for creating tissue tassels

Take all the sheets of tissue you’ll be using and stack them up.  Using a sharp rotary blade cut down the center (fat center, not long center) so you are ending with two rectangles.  Fold that in half again and lay over a slotted ruler and cut your fringe towards the folded edge but not all the way through I left like 1 1/2-2 inches) .

how to roll and twist your tissue paper to create tassels for decorations

Taking one sheet at a time roll the none cut center up, then twist!  As you twist it will naturally fold into itself and you just fold it in half and tape the base of the twist together!  Easy peasy!  To string it I actually just tied each tassel every 5 inches along some bakers twine!
