These spider pops are part of my Inside Out party, representing “Fear”, but they could be used for ANYTHING, in any color. They are super easy to make and DELICIOUS! It’s all about getting the right texture for the balls (I use Oreo Balls, but you can use cake balls too) and the right thinness of the chocolate, after that it’s easy!
The most time consuming part is cutting all the little 1/2 inch long licorice legs. BUT they are what MAKES the spiders, so it’s worth it. You CAN go with longer legs, but you’d have to press them in more, the short ones are lighter so they are easier to attache, and let’s face it, they are CUTE. I used sugar crystals for the eyes because 1. I like them, and 2. they make spider/multi eyes
Inside Out Spider Pops
Ingredients
- 30 oreos finely crushed
- 4 oz full fat cream cheese softened
- 8 oz purple chocolate melts
- 3 black licorice wheels
- 2 Tbsp purple sugar crystals
Instructions
- Crush or grind your oreos, I like to use a food processor to get it really fine
- mix with the softened cream cheese
- refrigerate for an hour
- use a mini scoop to scoop out the balls (I leave them flat on one side, but you can roll them into perfect balls if you want)
- freeze for 30 mins or more
- split the licorice and cut into 1/2 inch lengths
- melt the chocolate until smooth
- dip sucker sticks into the chocolate then into the balls, and let set
- dip the pops in the chocolate, shake it off, while still warm press 4 legs into each side
- set aside on some parchment paper
- take some of the warm chocolate and pipe circles onto the pops for the eyes, dip immediately into the sugar crystals
