I received a Miracle-Gro AeroGarden ULTRA LED to review via the Kitchen PLAY network. All opinions are my own.
You GUYS!!! I think long and hard before I take on sponsored posts. I get pickier and pickier every year. I try to make sure I only accept sponsors that not only I love but that I think you guys will love as well. When I got an email about the AeroGarden? I JUMPED at it, I probably wrote the longest “YES PLEASE” letter ever. I mean SERIOUSLY, there is nothing as good as cooking and baking with fresh herbs. Being able to grow them year round and have them at your fingertips anytime you want them? Perfection.
I was seriously waiting by the door for WEEKS in anticipation of this arriving. We went on a family vacation and it still hadn’t arrived and I texted my MIL every day asking if it was there yet! I couldn’t wait to get started. In fact I had a recipe I wanted to make but didn’t want to spend anymore money buying fresh herbs so I changed my recipe calendar. I already have a list of recipes I can’t wait to cook as soon as my herbs are ready.
I love love LOVE setting things up, it’s the tech-y in me. This seriously was SO easy, like out of the box and set up in mere minutes. I love that the lights start low and can move up as your plants grow taller. I will say the lower the lights the better the growth so as your herbs start to grow I suggest trimming from the top so you can keep the lights as low as possible. BUT if you are growing something tall (like the tomatoes from the other pods) you can add the trellis that comes with the kit.
SOOOOO planting your pods. Ummmm less than 5 mins, and that was with the kids “helping” me do it! The awesome ULTRA LED model I got had the instructions right on the screen. You start by pushing the “Quick Plant” and it guides you through it all. Princess and Baby Boy actually did it all without any help from me (I just took the pictures, which honestly kind of bummed me out, I love setting up stuff like this, but they were just SO excited… I let them have at it).
The pods have heights written right on them (put the tallest ones in the center back and the shortest ones in the center front) so it’s super easy to place them where they belong. The water height needs to be maintained, but honestly in 2 weeks I’ve barely added ANY water. AND you need to add the liquid food every 14 days, AND the screen actually reminds you when so you don’t even have to set a reminder on your phone)
Here you can see planting day, 1 week and 2 weeks. Can you believe how fast they’ve grown? You start with the domes on, and once they grow tall enough to touch the top you take them off. I was gone last week for a few days and the kids called and told me every time they took off another dome. The whole family has loved this and I think it will encourage them to be willing to try more of the foods I make that they might be a bit nervous to try! WIN!
