I was so excited for the chance to design a tablescape for our local Home Show this weekend! When I first got asked they said we could pick any holiday or season. You guys KNOW it’s all about the food for me so if I’m going to take the time to set a table in a FANTASTIC way it’s going to be for Thanksgiving. I mean seriously a holiday all about food? FAVORITE!
But I wanted something that didn’t SCREAM thanksgiving either (since I’ve done more traditional before), so it COULD be used for just a nice dinner if you wanted.
So I stayed away from the uber traditional colors, and I used food in the arrangements! I don’t know about you but my meals always have cake… (shocking I know) so this soft chocolate cake became my centerpiece.
Because this was part of the local home show we each were assigned a store to use and I was giving the amazing Macy’s. I mixed and matched a bunch of different place settings (martha stewart and lenox) to bring lots of shape and texture to the table. And the pop of blue cools the whole table down so it’s not too warm. I’m in love with how the settings came together.
And I wanted to incorporate texture and color using edible’s in the arrangement. My lovely friend Molly is a master with flowers and helped bring my vision to life! I used more hearty foods cause it had to sit at the home show for three days.
We used Kale, parsley, roses and other green filler in the arrangement, backed it up against some lovely white and “blue” pumpkins and added artichokes and brown pears around the arrangement.
Then we drew the whole thing together with a pomegranate in the center. Adding some hand painted pinecones just added that last detail/height and it’s complete!
Working on the table in my mind and even in bits and pieces in my own home is never the same as finally getting it all together! I loved how it ended up. I wish I OWNED all these plates and could use them myself! If your a UT local head to the Desert News Home Show and don’t forget to VOTE!!!
