Continuous zipper purse tutorial

These continuous zipper purses are so much fun to make, and so many zipper colors available. I mad this first one for my mom!

I’ve tried making a few different flowers to go on the purse but in the end you make the purse the same way no matter how you finish it off.

So cute~  I think I’ll have to make myself a red one, and maybe a purple, oh, and the grey…  Now that I’m out of the diaper bag (not out of diapers, just down to few enough changes each day that I don’t need the “suitcase” everywhere I go) I’m in love with a nice small purse!

I know it’s not super practical having a purse you can completely unzip, but SO cute and fun.  Since I hadn’t made one before I took my time and lots of pictures.

First I folded the length that I wanted the bag’s width.  Overlap the edges and sewed up to the point, folding it in and sewing that down too!

After that I unzipped the rest and wrapped it around, creating a corner and sewing over the end, folding another corner and then sewing down.

I will look like this.  Just keep sewing the two sides together until it’s as long as you want it and end it the same way you started it, only backwards.  Overlapping the ends first and doing the small point last.  I also attached a zipper handle and sweet zipper flower.

This is what it looks like completely unzipped!

Hi, I just came here from Crap I've Made because I LOVE your zipper bag. I'd love to try to make one, but the link doesn't take me anywhere. When I tried a search on your site, I didn't get any results. Can you help? Thank you! 🙂

Stocking stuffer for Christmas but I unzipped it and now I need instructions to make a purse and then back to a little hat.(PLEASE HELP) Thank You. Jeanie Brown

I’m so sorry – I have NO idea – I’ve never seen one that does both – sounds cool! but without seeing how it unzipped I wouldn’t even know where to start

Sure! Sorry about that. I just changed to WordPress last night and now NONE of my links work. I'm trying to make my way back through 300 posts to fix it all! Anyway, the link to the instructions is here

I just did a google search on continuous zipper or zipper by the yard. There are ton’s of place to buy them. It depends on what colors you’d wanting. I like coil style for purses. each purse used 4-5 yards depending on the size you make and the handle length. here are a few different place. http://www.createforless.com/search/results.aspx?txtSearch=zipper%20yd Good Luck! I bought my last batch from Hong Kong, but the company I bought them for no longer seems to be selling them!

I would like to buy one of your purses also. Are they still available? I could only find the tutorial on your website. Please let me know where I can go to purchase the continuous zipper bag. Thanks so much.

I’m so sorry, I no longer have a store or sell anything. let me see what supplies I have left, I don’t have zippers in all the colors anymore. But if I have enough of what color you are interested in I might be able to make it. With the new baby I’m running a bit behind on projects though.

    Hi!
I’m interested in purchasing a large amount of zipper purses and accessories. I have a small boutique right off the Missouri River, in Glasgow, Missouri. My small boutique, called Muddy River Boutque, carries other great bags. I would like to purchase some of your bags –if possible. My email is kolksj42@att.net.
I do not have a website as of yet, but hopefully it should be up and running soon.

    Thanks,
    Jo

I just wrote a fast tutorial the first time. I’ve been meaning to make another longer one but just haven’t had the time. the handle is a different piece than the rest of the purse. I just tucked the ends of the piece into the corners of the top as I sewed the top closed

Where I used to buy them isn’t in business anymore. Just search “continuous zippers” on google – there are so many options from there. Etsy has a lot.
