It’s official, the new Bosch is named Vera!!! One person got the reference last week… But I know my readers are cool enough that more of you should know where the name came from. So virtual awesome points to anyone who gets it right!
Today I want to talk a little about the Bosch Universal blender! I use the bowl daily, and my husband uses the blender daily! I love it myself, but don’t use it quite as much as he does. He likes to make breakfast shakes. I remember when my parents glass blender fell and broke. When the plastic replacement arrived we all freaked out a bit, could it possibly work as well? And of course, because it’s a Bosch, it did!
Here you can see the NEW blender (on the left – borrowed from my sister) and the older blender (on the right – on Vera). The lid is a bit different in the new one, it clicks in to place nicer, but the shapes are totally the same. You can see all the recipes I use the blender for here.
The blender uses the same amazing motor the mixer uses, so its strong. I chops ice easily. I use the blender for lassi’s, milkshakes, grinding oatmeal for my chocolate chip cookies, dressings, etc… I LOVE this blender. It doesn’t spin as fast or have the horsepower that a Vitamix has, but it’s pretty darn amazing! I’ve never wanted or needed anything stronger!
I love that you can use the lid to grab those little feet on the bottom of the blender and help twist it on (tight) and off. Here is when I admit that I owned it for a few years before I figured that out though! In fact last week at my sisters I showed her how to use it (she didn’t know either) Brilliant I tell you!!!
Really there are only 5 parts to the blender. The plastic 6 cup jar, the lid, the rubber gasket seal and the blades. There is also a funnel for the lid that my husband accidentally destroyed it in the sink disposal… I’m ordering it today (along with another fun attachment I can’t wait to share with you!
[riview id=122 name=reviews num=16 order=asc tags=i-love-my-bosch size=150x150 lightbox=0]what else do you want me to review? the sifter? food processor? meat grinder? pasta? there is just so much share what you want me to try?
I bought my own bosch universal mixer years ago, and I’m sharing it because I love the machine. Bosch did send me a new machine to try out, with no expectation to write about it. I am not being compensated for this review. but I am an affiliate and if you click over and buy something I do make some money, just FYI

Thanks for coming by and commenting! I really appreciate it! I love your list of boredom busters, esp the learning games and kids crafts! I want to make the bouncy balls now!

What is storing it like? I love our Bosch – it’s taller than wider. This one looks impressive.
Ashlee
I honestly don’t store her, I leave it out on the counter 100% of the time because I use her at least once a day, sometimes up to 8 times a day. But my sister and mom both store theirs on a shelf in a cupboard and don’t have any problems at all!

You crack me up – glad to see you’re loving Vera!!
Ashlee

Love all your reviews for the Bosch. I grew up with a Bosch mixer in the home, my mom still has it, that thing never ceases to impress me. I FINALLY purchased my very own (after 12 long years with a kitchenaid) and am so excited!!! I haven’t purchased the blender as I have read a bunch of reviews mentioning in leaking… Then I stumbled upon your awesome blog and noticed your tightening trick with the lid. Have you ever had leaking problems? Wondering if others were user errors? I have a vitamix, so purchasing the blender optional, but if I did I would return my vitamix and potentially save some $$ … I’d love to see a side by side comparison of the two… They just don’t exsist. Anyway. Your thoughts are appreciated.
Ashlee
Mine hasn’t ever leaked. BUT I will say as powerful as it is it ISN’T the same as a Blendtec or ninjia, not sure about the vitamix. But it’s good enough for what I use it for

How well does the blender puree spinach or other leafy veggies for something like smoothies? Do they get coarse but not smooth?
Ashlee
It get’s pretty smooth! But I don’t make a lot of smoothies, my husband does, but he doesn’t mind texture either. I like the blendtec for getting things perfectly smooth, like making peanut butter, but the bosch is better than your average blender, it’s like an in between, does that help at all?
