I have a rule regarding treats, if I don’t make it I don’t eat it. I’m usually disappointed in the taste and this way if I’m craving something sweet, but have to make it, it will sometimes deter me (but not often enough). I love real food and meals more than treats normally too. Something so satisfying about a really amazing meal.
While I love creating recipes, I also enjoy trying other’s recipes, often tweaking them to my own taste. I just simply love food! So when I decided to participate in sharing my top 10 recipes from other bloggers for the year I decided to go with the ones that I loved from the get go, that didn’t need any tweaking. These are recipes I discovered this year. Recipes that have become staples in our home!
This 3 ingredient sausage gravy from One Sweet Appetite is my favorite new recipe of the year! I’ve made it 6 times already and I just bought three more lbs of sausage to make it three more times soon. It’s fast easy and tastes great! Now I just need to find a good biscuit recipe.
For my mom’s birthday this year my sister wanted to do a crepe bar! I have always loved EATING crepes, but never made them. So throwing this party was so much fun! The plain and cinnamon crepes with the cream cheese or lemon filling and the buttermilk syrup on my sisters site, Chelsea Peterson Photography are AMAZING! The kids ask for them all the time.
My girlfriend Jesseca from One Sweet Appetite brought me the most amazing tomato soup for lunch one day! I will never go backed to canned tomato soup again! This Creamy tomato soup from Our best bites is incredible, seriously I make it all the time now with grilled cheese (a family favorite)!
I was over at my sisters earlier in the year and she made this amazing S’more dessert! This recipe for S’more cookie bars from Lovin from the Oven is incredible, seriously who doesn’t love S’more based desserts? I couldn’t wait to make them for myself. Even my husband likes them, and he’s not a big sweet’s fan.
This Pumpkin Pound cake by One Sweet Appetite over at Whipperberry is AMAZING! And I know because I got to taste test it a few times. It’s easy and delicious, and the glaze is incredible!
This Copy Cat Beecher’s Mac and Cheese by Partner in Dine is one I tweaked a bit. I made a few months ago for the mustard contest so I added mustard and changed the sauce/noodle ratio a bit. But it’s delicious as is, although I prefer not baking it, I just don’t love baked pasta.
I make a lot of cakes, and I use a lot of cake flour, and it’s VERY expensive, so coming across this make your own cake flour recipe by Joy the Baker is great, in fact her entire “baking 101” series is fabulous. I love her explanation for why she uses unsalted butter, she might have converted me!
I have a few flavors I love, and coconut is one of my all time favorites! I’m not a huge pie fan usually, being more of a cake person and all, but this coconut pie by Jet Set at Today’s Mama is amazing! Like go-order-yourself-some-of-this-coconut-from-amazon-RIGHT-NOW amazing.
When I started trying and collecting copy cat recipes for Cafe Rio I kept coming back to this collection of cafe rio recipes from Favorite Family recipes! I love their rice and black beans, I used a different recipe for the rest, but I bet they are all great!
Out of all the recipes on this list I actually haven’t tried this white cake from the cupcake project… YET, but I am Baker loves it and it has GREAT reviews. I have a white cake recipe that tastes great already, but is difficult and uses a few dozen egg whites, so I’m shopping around and can’t wait to try it out!

I thought the measurements were a bit off, so in my version (with mustard, I shared it in November) I changed it to what I did, but seriously amazing flavor!!!

Great list, Ashlee! I have been thinking of Carina’s Coconut Cream Pie for months and trying to avoid making it because I know I will eat it all myself! haha Happy New Year, friend. I sure love and admire you and all that you do!
Ashlee
I could totally eat it myself, Maybe for a family potluck event or something, where people will take the rest off your hands! Let’s collaborate again this year! So much fun getting to know you a bit better!

I think I need all of these in my life… that mac-n-cheese and that last cake might need to happen TODAY! Before the healthy eating starts right?! LOL Awesome post!
