Hello! My name is Deidre (Dee-druh) and I blog fashion + lifestyle over at Love, The Skinnys. I add in the lifestyle because at the end of the day I have no filter and I write like I talk. And I talk with lots of tangents and bizarre thoughts. So rather than lead you astray in thinking I am 100% fashionista all the time, I will let you know you will find lots of lifestyle.
I’m married to a handsome baseball player named Adam – aka Skinny Mill, which is where the blog title comes from. Now let me tell you a little something about our baseball history. Because I think it is important you know this. Adam has played baseball his whole life, in fact his whole family did baseball. I didn’t care one bit for baseball until I met Adam. I didn’t know the lingo or the rules. I just knew people scored runs, hit homers, and sometime struck out. Oh, and I knew what a pickle was. But now baseball is a huge part of my life, in fact… we recently made our way out to Arizona to try our hand in the heat and professional baseball.
Some refer to us as the all-American couple because he plays baseball and I do pageants. But that is a title we are okay with, because we love what we do. I grew up in Idaho where I competed in the Miss Idaho Organization. My talent was tap dancing and my platform was S.T.A.M.P. Out Bullying. I competed for four years and my final year was the big finale when I won the Miss America Community Service Award, the Idaho’s Bert Park Award, and placed in the top 10! Now that I am married I volunteer as the Miss Idaho PR Chair running all the social media and appearances for the organization.
I still have a lot of pageantry and glitter running through my veins. That is where my love for fashion and style came from. My body type is a little different than the typical pageant girl because I am taller and have a larger body structure. So I like sharing the confidence I have gained over the years through sharing fashion tips and styles that can translate to any body.
So now here I am! A woman with a full time events job and a husband on the road just taking it all in. Blogging is my weekly outlet. Something just for me and for my readers. And blogging fashion is something that let’s me get back to my creative side after a week of blazers and pencil skirts.
Oh.. and there is one more photo of us for good measure. Adam is my best friend and my everything. And if you know one thing about me, that is what it should be! Catch ya on the flip side.
